An afternoon in Manchester yesterday, a little shopping and mooching with my girl. I used to do this all the time Pre-Covid and now hardly ever. I’ve changed, the world has changed. So lovely to see, the bright colours, street art and people, so good to see the hills and water of home too.

And the boy and his girl are home now ♥️.

On golden pond this morning. Every day I’m amazed. Every day it’s different, just beautiful in a different way. Mumma duck and her chicks are getting big now and wait for us to swim alongside. The heat was rising from the water at 6.20am, just the sound of sheep in the distance and a pro in a wetsuit slicing through the water (as opposed to us chatting, obviously).

Such a great week with friends at the water; my girl came home and we swam tonight. @rachtho 40th surprise swim party, celebrating prisoner @julietillyflop release from isolation #638, @kathryngirling looking amazing in the amazing birthday swim hat, @claire_aquaphile paddle boarding, the pink pond flowers are coming into flower (where the ice once was) and the hay is literally being made while the sun shines, carp diem, carp diem.

A million ways to wrap and tie a shawl and the beauty is that you get a different pop of colour each time you do.
I have to admit, when knitting this shawl is wasn’t too sure on the colours together for a while but I know i like orange and purples together, oranges and speckles, blah de blah so kept going. And the thing is, on the flat, it looks completely different but tied and wrapped it pops, I nearly ripped it back but my stubbornness didn’t allow.
I used merino singles for this project, I love drape and this drapes, amazing what a soak and a block does. And that’s the thing about knitting and yarn sports, winter isn’t the same dread as previously thought, although this one may get some all year round wear.
Yarn is a blend of @blackelephant.uk @walkcollection and @madelinetosh some from deep stash but orange and purple recent from @tangledyarnuk Pattern by @westknits the man is a genius. Man hours: months. Wingspan : the length of a washing line!

I really wanted to get this finished by the end of my holiday and the icord is finished and it just needs blocking. Woop woop, it’s been on the needles since….April?
The things is, is rarely wear these shawls but love making them but this one will be another post swim wrap, a big one! Great for wrapping around me several times but light and colourful, another stealth swimwear peace of kit!

When I go stealth swimming it’s Important to stay as incognito and warm as possible. I just needed to make something easy and quick, I put my #verticesuniteshawl to one side for a while to cast on a #boneyardshawl by @westknits

Possibly my favourite yarn colour matches my swim coat; Countess Ablaze Rebelling Against Suburbia DK. It’s just a wee shawl, just over one skein but great for getting dressed quick straight out the water when it’s starts to get cooler.

I found this airstream in a field next to an old ruined abbey close to the cliffs in Suffolk.
Every now and then I find this picture and the dream is still there… a studio space full of yarn, home comforts and a frenzy of creativity. It’s all planned in my head, an area for swim gear just as you walk in the door, a dog bed, a kettle…obviously bright and colourful on the inside, cushions, some on the floor, a rug…I’m parking it on my grid because you’ve got to have something to aim for 💙 and a studio space out in the wilds is mine.
