Yarn on the top floor, sleep in the middle and bread oven with serving hatch on the ground floor; warm coffee and bread and some warm knitwear will see you good and on your way. It doesn’t matter if it never happens, it’s just a beautiful thought.

As with child one I have inflicted warm socks on child two as she leaves the nest. They are also going to help break in the Dr. Martens which are so strong they would rip the skin off an elephant. I’m good that way, you can’t knit a plaster for a Jimmy Choo could you? Actually, knitting silk on pins sounds like a fab idea... for someone with more time than me. She also gets a groceries bag, blanket is still on going 😂 sock yarn is Tough Sock by @sweetgeorgia from @tangledyarnuk yarns. Yarn for bag is LilySugarnCream from @woolwarehouse perfect for cotton for strong bags of beans and gin.

I’m not even going to justify my impulsive purchase of colour and comfort. Because It’s Friday, it’s the end of the week and if the truth be told I’m cream crackered. I’m looking back on some gorgeous early morning walks and fun time with the girl. New yarn is like a new pencil case and if I look at it just like that for a while before caking it up and casting on that’ll do pig, that’ll do. I started making this when my girl was about.....12. I’ve promised to finish it for the last six years and she leaves for Uni soon, crap mum strikes again. Will it be finished it time? I don’t know is the honest answer, there’s only so many hours in the day...it’s a race against time and there’s a new baby in the family coming very soon, can’t bloomin wait, ooooffff I can’t wait to squish that little lamb and inhale baby head scent. But my girl is leaving, it’s like a revolving door this thing called parenthood, a very lovely revolving door all the same.

The things is, I plan a route and we just go that extra bit further, like twice the distance and twice the climb. And that’s the other thing, when you’re just enjoying something you don’t want it to stop and you just keep enjoying it, and for me, and I hope my friends, we just want to keep enjoying being outside and walking, moving, chatting and sharing the experience. We’re knitty friends but just love being outdoors and that’s ace. We leave the working week behind, chat, share and solve as we walk and I love it I do. Friends and the outdoors, tonic of life.

I said it was vast and here it is! Thing is, with a @westknits is as soon as you finish one, you want to start another, another challenge to learn some new techniques and skills, I love it, that feeling if excitement, I guess a bit like a new term. I’m already thinking of what next, there’s a demonic laugh there as I plan and new project and gander new yarn...
So, just leave me here to walk the beaches with knitwear and colour and a dog yapping in the distance waiting for the ball to be thrown in the water, one more bloomin time. Happy Bank Holiday week, I hope it’s a creative one.

International dog day this week but let's be reali

International dog day this week but let's be realistic, it's Wodge day every day for us at home.
This fluff ball of white matted fur is the soft side of velcro to scratchy side that is my side, he's hilarious, known to sit at the table when he's hungry until he's got your attention, he's an explorer and loves walking the Peaks and Coastline with us, he's annoyingly randy at 8pm every night, with.out.fail is desperate to bonk your leg, he barks like mad if we argue or raise voices, he gets jealous if not involved in an embrace, he goes berserk when Granpa visits, he waits at the door when the kids leave and goes crazy when they are home, he loves to go to @fernmosspetsupplies for bone or @thebridgebakehouse for a sausage, he's made our family complete, crazy white fluff ball he is.

Starburst is complete.
After a slight soaking panic it's good and I think quite possibly my favourite so far. I'll get a picture of the whole shawl soon. It is vast, and I love the colours. It didn't quite make Ibiza but will bring some colour to dark days for sure.

Just before lockdown my sister announced she was p

Just before lockdown my sister announced she was pregnant and I hadn't managed to see her until Friday night.
I've missed seeing her and her family so much but I got to squish my nephews and see her and her husband three weeks before her due date. Her new baby gets the first Mamie and Florrie blanket I made to wrap that special baby up. Of course this gives my license to knit much more. Next time I'll be visiting a family of 5, I cannot wait!!! Love them.
