My Beaumaris skein, colourful and vibrant, it’s hardly surprising I love Beaumaris so much! The blues of the sea and sky, the view of Snowdonia mountain range over the Menai Straits and the bright paintwork of the cottages, not forgetting my obsession with the soap shop and gift shop with colours I can’t resist.
Know I can knit something special, socks, wrap, I’m not sure yet, to remind me of my favourite escape.

It is bitingly cold at the moment, first snow and the wind chill is freezing. I’ve finished a new small Boneyard shawl with my first skein of yarn I dyed at Peak District yarns. It’s good to see it knitted up, it’s super warm and made a cracking wind sock on the hill!

Love a shop front, love a haberdashery shop, love treasure, I always do my research before visiting somewhere new for habby, textiles and yarn. Valletta has Victor Galea.
From a young age I spent a lot of time in the haberdashery departments of Bainbridges (now known as John Lewis) Fenwicks in Newcastle and Rutherfords and the Sewing Box in Morpeth.
I can still hear the thwack of the bale of cloth hitting the long wooden tables before being rolled out and cut. There’s nothing like habby treasure, buttons and ribbons . I bought a few bits, I’m not sure anything new has been bought since 1978, it felt only right to relieve Victor of some stock. I’ll take it home and file it in tins labelled buttons, ribbons, treasure. Some shop front love in Valletta too.

There’s no secret in that the thing I like the most about yarn is colour, texture and movement as well as the potential it brings.
The last time we visited our favourite beach I decided I really wanted to be able to translate the colour and movement of nature and landscape into yarn. This is my Llandonna skein, I love those grasses and long stretching sands, squally winds, that beach is where we walk, talk and exhale.

I’ve made this hat a couple of times now for Margot. She’s no idea how many more times I’ll make it for her either 😂 I am actually tempted to make one for me tbh as a post swim hat…unfortunately I don’t get to see Margot very often so hats are blocked on balloons when guessing her size ➡️

Trying to blend in with the stripy lighthouse at Penmon. My jumper out in the really wild wind and soon after the driving rain today. It’s so warm and that’s what I wanted, a throw over for the winter, a real snuggle jumper. Of course, another item of clothing to add to my “last seen wearing” wardrobe for walking along the beaches of Anglesey ❤️
We ran and hid in the @pilothousecafe from the rain for a bit, drank coffee before heading out to drenching rain. Stayed snug and warm, on the top half…

Jumper is @petiteknit Chunky sweater with a few stripes thrown in. Happy days on the beach, Happy Saturday ❤️
