🌸Inspired by a summer visit to @kewgardens

🌺Bright, fruity jeweled colours just like the geraniums, amarathus and periwinkles and millions of other flowers and plants at Kew.

🌻we had the best colourful day there last summer with my sister and family, precious times in crazy times.

🌴I’ll be back to Kew in the summer just to soak up the colours and beauty. A Palm House yarn is definitely on the cards before though. 💚

Is it a life hack?! If you don’t knit then I guess you could dry your hats this way to keep their shape but…
The easiest way to block a hat; use a balloon and gauge the size of the recipient. The last picture is slightly creepy though I admit but regardless, I recommend this method.
Just warn your family when using this method, a row of wobbling heads on the kitchen surface in the night can be slightly alarming…

For years I’ve wished I could turn the colours of the landscape into either yarn or paint, now I’m loving painting yarn.
Whether it’s the early morning winter sunrise or the deep pools I swim in, this skein has gone to a new home, be iit a hat or a wrap or mittens, I hope it warmer than it’s inspiration!

Happy 2022!

Best thing of 2021, or most influential thing for me has been outdoor swimming. It has been the best thing I could have done for myself this year, boosted my physical and mental strength and spent time with the most wonderful people sharing a love for the outdoors and fresh faced laughter as the sun rose and set. It has been amazing.
For 2022 I have some hopes and dreams but I’m not a resolution person, constant change and growth more so, not overnight. So, goodbye 2021 thank you for the good times, the bad times were some sad times.
To say hello to 2022 we went back to the sea, a quick swim in the Peaks this morning and off to Formby for a reset. The sun on my face, sea air and wind, a complete control, alt, delete, I dream of daily beach walks…
I’ve included the last sunset of 2021 and first sunrise of 2022, when everything keeps changing nature still does her most beautiful thing.

That’s Christmas nearly finished hand made wise ❤️Made wee Margot a blanket for her baby Pickle I bought her for her birthday from @naturalbabyshower . A simple little alpaca super soft and super warm blanket,I hope to see being dragged around the house, filthy and loved. Because toys are toys and life is for living.

I love how memories are triggered, I saw these Kickers at a jumble sale in Suffolk, we all had them way back then and danced to The Groovy Train, The Inspiral Carpets, Primal Scream, The Love Shack and Jump by The House of Pain. We wore dungarees, leather jackets and lots of beads, carried our pattern cutting equipment in tool boxes, a night out cost a tenner max including a pickled egg from the chippy on the way home. Thank you for throwing your Kickers out, they brought back great memories 💛 those of you who were with me on that dance floor, they were great times weren’t they?!

The colours of my week💛
I admit I really miss daylight, a working week in winter is so often dark and I struggle with that but the first two pictures are from this morning’s sunrise at the pool, although the water was cold (my bingo wings feel it the most 😂) the sunrise was warm, Mother Nature proud as ever and a swim with friends was perfect, 7.30am meet for the sunrise, bliss.
A few photos from early morning walks and the Cat and Fiddle from Sunday. Clouds, nature and of course, I’m memory banking all the colours 😍

My Beaumaris skein, colourful and vibrant, it’s hardly surprising I love Beaumaris so much! The blues of the sea and sky, the view of Snowdonia mountain range over the Menai Straits and the bright paintwork of the cottages, not forgetting my obsession with the soap shop and gift shop with colours I can’t resist.
Know I can knit something special, socks, wrap, I’m not sure yet, to remind me of my favourite escape.

It is bitingly cold at the moment, first snow and the wind chill is freezing. I’ve finished a new small Boneyard shawl with my first skein of yarn I dyed at Peak District yarns. It’s good to see it knitted up, it’s super warm and made a cracking wind sock on the hill!
