About

///yarns inspired by places, hand dyed in the Peak District///

I use stunning colour combinations and quality fibres to produce hand dyed yarns for knitting and crochet. I want to inspire you to create amazing projects, maybe learn new skills and ultimately unwind and find joy in what you create.

My colourways are inspired by the places I have visited, whether it is nature, the sea or a city scape, and are dyed in small batches to make your projects unique. Each colourway is given that place name and a What Three Words location, you too may have been there or you may decide you want to visit, I have given you the clue to find that inspirational spot!

Whether you decide to create straight away or add to your stash, I hope you find something that makes you smile and inspires your creativity. Enjoy and don’t forget to share your makes on social media #mamieandflorrie . It’ll be great to see your makes!

A little bit about me,

I trained at the School of Textiles and Design at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh specialising in garment manufacture.  I have worked in the clothing industry as a garment technologist and more recently as retail buyer, time now to combine that experience into my creative work.

Born in Northumberland, I now live in the Peak District and love to be in nature or by the sea, a country girl at heart but I also love the contrast of being in a buzzing city, travelling and taking in the colour and texture of my surroundings.

And here are Mamie and Florrie, sitting on the left, Mamie (pronounced May-me) was my adorable Grandma and constant knitter, she tried her hardest to teach me! Florrie, my Great Aunty, back row left, one of my Grandad’s 10 siblings. And that’s a younger me with my Grandad, they were wonderful.
